Departure, by Washington artist Clark Wiegman, will be located at Branch Avenue station on the Green Line in Prince George's County, Maryland. Community representatives who assisted with selecting the artist wanted the artist to create a work of art that would inspire a sense wonder and enjoyment for users of the station. The artist responded by designing a painted metal and diachronic glass suspended sculpture that will employ his trademark bold forms, rich colors and intricate patterns. Departure will animate the austerity of the station design and capture the imagination of commuters. Departure will be installed in the Fall of 2004. | ||||
