Light Wheel, by Colorado artists George Peters and Melanie Walker, will be located at Suitland station on the Green Line in Prince George's County, Maryland. The stainless steel and aluminum kinetic sculpture will be installed along the 250-foot-causeway of the station. The wind-driven circular movement of the sculpture along the causeway will evoke images of spinning train wheels on suspended tracks. Light from the skylight will reflect on prismatic aluminum panels to create an array of subtle flashing color along the length of the station mezzanine. The sculpture will be installed in 2004. | ||||
