Metro weekday track work planner for July 2-6, 2012

Metro will advance rebuilding efforts during off-peak hours Monday, July 2, through Friday, July 6, 2012.  There will be no track work on the system on Wednesday, July 4, for the benefit of customers attending Independence Day festivities.

Red Line

• Monday night from 10 p.m. through closing, Red Line trains will single track between Van Ness and Medical Center to allow for signal work. Customers should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time.
• Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 10 p.m. through closing, Red Line trains will single track between Takoma and Forest Glen to allow for platform reconstruction and fiber optic cable installation.

Orange Line

• Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 p.m. through closing, Orange Line trains will single track between East Falls Church and West Falls Church for work associated with the Silver Line extension, and between Federal Center SW and Eastern Market for station dome rehabilitation and tunnel repairs. Customers should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time.

Blue Line

• Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 p.m. through closing, Orange Line trains will single track between Federal Center SW and Eastern Market for station dome rehabilitation and tunnel repairs. Customers should allow 15 minutes of additional travel time.

Green Line

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, Green Line trains will single track between College Park and Greenbelt to allow for track maintenance.  Customers should allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.

Metro is advancing a six-year, $5 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) that is focused on safety and bringing the Metro system into a state of good repair. In FY2012, the CIP includes projects to replace escalators; retrofit track; replace critical track circuitry and equipment along the right of way; rehabilitate third-rail power systems, running rail and track pads; modernize 12 stations; replace 100 Metrobuses and the rehabilitate 100 more; renovate three bus garages; and install 30 new track turnouts.
