G8
A construction fence has been installed around the perimeter of the DC Library site at the northwest corner of 7th Street & Rhode Island Avenue NW. The fence is expected to remain for approximately one year. Due to the placement of the fence, the bus stop on the north side of Rhode Island Avenue, west of 7th Street, is no longer in a safe location. However, by implementing a minor rerouting of the G8 via R Street, a new stop has been established on the north side of R Street, west of 7th Street, adjacent to the Shaw-Howard-Univ Station entrance and the 70-Line stop.
Effective Wednesday, April 29, 2009:
Route G8 westbound will travel its regular route to the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue & R Street NW, then turn right on R Street, left 9th Street to Rhode Island Avenue and continue regular route.
Route G8 eastbound will not change.

Southbound buses leaving King Street station will follow the present route to Gunston Road and Jackson Loop (north), then continue left on Jackson Loop to the terminal, west of the entrance to Building 1425.
