Twinbrook Metrorail Station The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has been involved in the joint development of real estate since the early 1970s. Since then, dozens of successful projects have been built on WMATA properties throughout the region. WMATA continues to encourage development by periodically offering properties for sale or joint development.
