Capitol South: Elevators out of service for rehabilitation
June 2012 through October 2012
The entrance elevator and platform elevator at Capitol South Station will be out of service for a multi-month modernization project beginning in June and will return to service in October.
During this time, technicians are replacing all key components of the elevator, including the cab and control systems, to provide more reliable service.
This is the first time the two elevators have undergone a major modernization since the station opened in 1977.
During this time, shuttle bus service will available upon request between Capitol South and L'Enfant Plaza stations. To request a shuttle, customers should call (202) 962-1825 or see any station manager.
In addition, customers can use Metrobus Route 32, 34, 36 and 39 on Independence Ave to travel between Capitol South and Eastern Market.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
