Dupont Circle: No descending escalator during peak periods on Friday, June 15

Beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, the center escalator at Dupont Circle Station's north entrance (Q Street) will be taken out of service for maintenance. The escalator will remain out of service until Saturday.

Due to the ongoing escalator replacement project at the south entrance (19th Street), the safety plan requires two ascending escalators during weekday peak periods.  As a result, on Friday, June 15, the two available escalators at the Dupont Circle north entrance will be moving in the "up" direction during the morning and evening rush hours. The center escalator will be available as a "walker" (stairs). The elevator will be available for customers who are unable to walk down the center escalator. Please give priority use of the elevator to customers with disabilities and senior citizens.Map

In the event that either ascending escalator experiences an outage, Metro Transit Police will restrict entry to Dupont Circle Station from street level. Should this occur, customers may consider Farragut North as an alternate boarding location. Escalator technicians are posted at Dupont Circle during all hours the station is open to respond quickly to any mechanical problems.

We appreciate your understanding as we perform this necessary maintenance while maintaining a safe station environment for you. For additional information about the Dupont Circle escalator replacement project, please visit the project page.
