Green Line: Delays/crowding possible due to evening Washington Nationals Game

On weekday evenings when the Nationals play at home, Green Line trains and platforms can become crowded due to the increased ridership, above and beyond a normal rush hour commute.  The tens of thousands of additional riders can also slow down service along the line, as trains must "dwell" (spend more time) at Gallery Place, L'Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard.

On any game day, Metro operates additional trains, called "gap trains," as shuttles between Gallery Place and Anacostia and all intermediate stations.

If you are heading to an evening game and traveling from the Orange or Blue lines, a good suggestion is to travel directly to Capitol South Station instead.  This way, you can avoid the crowds at L'Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard.

The next evening game is tonight, starting at 7:05 p.m. (similar to the past two days).  Please allow additional travel time if traveling on the Green Line during rush hour this evening, and expect crowded conditions between downtown stations and Navy Yard.  This is the last weekday evening home game until July 3.  A full schedule of July evening  home games is provided below:

  • Tuesday, July 3 - 6:35 p.m. start
  • Thursday, July 5 - 7:05 p.m. start
  • Friday, July 6 - 7:05 p.m. start
  • Tuesday, July 17 - 7:05 p.m. start
  • Wednesday, July 18 - 7:05 p.m. start
  • Friday, July 20 - 7:05 p.m. start
  • Tuesday, July 31 - 7:05 p.m. start

We apologize for any inconvenience.
