Blue Line weekend track work June 29-July 1: Buses replace trains between Stadium-Armory & Benning Road
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 29, and continuing through system closing on Sunday, July 1, buses will replace Blue Line trains between Stadium-Armory and Benning Road to allow for track maintenance, tie and fastener renewal, grout work and platform rehabilitation.
Free shuttle bus service will operate between the stations throughout the weekend. Both Stadium-Armory and Benning Road stations will remain open for connections to Metrorail service.
Blue Line trains will operate in two segments:
- Between Benning Road and Largo Town Center at regular weekend intervals
- Between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory at regular weekend intervals
Customers traveling through the work zone should allow about 30 minutes of additional travel time.
Last Train Information
On Friday night, the last Blue Line trains to operate before track work begins will be:
- Eastbound: The 9:02 p.m. departure from Franconia-Springfield, arriving at Benning Road at 9:54 p.m. and Largo Town Center at 10:06 p.m.
- Westbound: The 9:42 p.m. departure from Largo Town Center, arriving at Stadium-Armory at 9:57 p.m. and Franconia-Springfield at 10:46 p.m.
On Friday and Saturday nights:
- Eastbound: The last Blue Line train from Franconia-Springfield will depart at 2:29 a.m., serving Metro Center at 3:04 a.m., and arrive at Stadium-Armory at 3:20 a.m. The last train from Benning Road to Largo Town Center will depart at 3:44 a.m., arriving at Largo Town Center at 3:56 a.m.
- Westbound: The last westbound Blue Line train will depart Largo Town Center at 2:03 a.m. (21 minutes earlier than normal), arriving at Benning Road at 2:14 a.m. The last train from Stadium-Armory to Franconia-Springfield will depart Stadium-Armory at 2:39 a.m. and arrive at Franconia-Springfield at 3:26 a.m.
On Sunday night:
- Eastbound: The last Blue Line train from Franconia-Springfield will depart at 11:29 p.m., serving Metro Center at 12:04 a.m., and arrive at Stadium-Armory at 12:20 a.m. The last train from Benning Road to Largo Town Center will depart at 12:44 a.m., arriving at Largo Town Center at 12:56 a.m.
- Westbound: The last westbound Blue Line train will depart Largo Town Center at 11:03 p.m. (21 minutes earlier than normal), arriving at Benning Road at 11:14 p.m. The last train from Stadium-Armory to Franconia-Springfield will depart Stadium-Armory at 11:39 p.m. and arrive at Franconia-Springfield at 12:26 a.m.
