Green/Yellow weekend service update
All previously announced weekend track work has been cancelled for the weekend of July 6-8, 2012, due to a derailment Friday afternoon outside West Hyattsville Station on the Green Line.
There were no injuries, and the train was safely evacuated.
Due to ongoing track repairs outside West Hyattsville Station, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Fort Totten and Prince George's Plaza for the remainder of Friday, and possibly on Saturday and Sunday. Customers should check posted MetroAlerts for updated service information. Normal service will be restored in time for the Monday morning commute.
In addition, Metro has imposed a 35 mph speed restriction on all above-ground areas of the system through closing on Sunday. Due to the speed restriction, customers may experience delays of 10-15 mintues and should allow additional travel time.
