Red Line weekend service adjustment May 31-June 2

Buses replace Red Line trains between Woodley Park and Metro Center
10 p.m. Friday, May 31 until closing Sunday, June 2

Red Line trains will operate:

  • Between Shady Grove and Woodley Park every 10 minutes during daytime hours, and every 15 to 20 minutes at other times.
  • Between Metro Center and Glenmont every 15 minutes during daytime hours, and every 20 minutes at other times.
  • At Metro Center and Gallery Place, all trains will board from the Shady Grove platform side.

Stations closed: Dupont Circle, Farragut North

Shuttle bus service info

  • Free shuttle buses will operate continuously between Woodley Park and Metro Center.
  • Express buses will operate between Woodley Park and Metro Center without intermediate stops.  Passengers using express buses should add 20 minutes to their travel time.
  • Local buses will operate between Woodley Park and Metro Center, making intermediate stops at Dupont Circle and Farragut North.  Passengers using local buses should add 25 minutes to their travel time.

Last Train Change
To allow for bus connections, the last train from Shady Grove to Woodley Park will depart 37 minutes earlier than normal, at these times:

  • 1:53 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night
  • 10:53 p.m. on Sunday night

About this rebuilding work
Personnel will make improvements to third-rail infrastructure, eliminate rail joints, replace track fasteners, upgrade communications equipment and install fiber-optic cable.

This ongoing effort to rebuild and upgrade the Metrorail system to provide safer and more reliable service is part of Metro Forward, a six-year, $5 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) that is focused on safety and bringing the Metro system into a state of good repair.
