Downtown bus service impacts during PM rush Fri, Dec 6, due to National Christmas Tree Lighting

Friday, December 6, 2013  |  4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Due to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, 15th Street NW between Constitution & Pennsylvania avenues and 17th Street NW between Constitution & New York avenues will be closed.

Metrobus routes 3Y, 7Y, 11Y, 16X, 16Y, 32, 36, 37, 39, 42, 43, 52, 53, 54, 80, D1, D3, D5, D6, G8, H1, L1, N2, N3, N4, P6, P17, P19, S1, S2, S4, S9, W13, X1 and X2, may experience delays and unplanned detours as a result of rush hour street closures and traffic congestion near the White House.  In addition, Route 16Y service will operate every 15 minutes during the event.

Detours

11Y: Board buses on southbound 14th Street NW near Pennsylvania Avenue. The following bus stops will not be served during the ceremony:

  • 18th Street and C Street NW
  • 18th Street and E Street NW
  • 18th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW
  • H Street and 17th Street NW
  • H Street and Madison Place NW

H1, L1: Board buses on westbound C Street NW near 19th Street. The bus stop at C Street NW near 17th Street will not be served during the ceremony.

P17, P19, W13: Board buses on southbound 13th Street at G Street NW. The following bus stops will not be served during the ceremony:

  • 17th Street and H Street NW
  • H Street and Madison Place NW
  • H Street between 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW

32, 36, 39 Eastbound:

  • Regular route to H and 15th streets NW
  • Continue on H Street NW
  • Right 14th Street NW
  • Left Pennsylvania Avenue NW
  • Resume regular route

32, 36, 37 Westbound:

  • Regular route to Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street NW
  • Right 14th Street NW
  • Left I Street NW
  • Resume regular route
