Vienna Station bus stop relocation
Beginning Monday, Feb. 27, Metro will temporarily relocate the bus stops at the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station for approximately six months due to a major transit and roadway improvement project for the south side bus bays and Saintsbury Road.
Bus stop relocation maps and wayfinding signs have been posted throughout the Vienna-Fairfax/GMU station and bus bays.
The relocation of the bus stops is a major phase of construction work of a larger transit oriented, adjacent development project that will include new bus transit facilities on the south side of the station, new access roadways, and new residential, retail and office space south of Vienna-Fairfax/GMU station. When construction is complete, customers will have 12 new bus bays and shelters with a continuous canopy to the station entrance, new on-street, metered parking spaces, expanded roadway capacity, new traffic signals and improved pedestrian and bicycle paths. The new Metro south bus transit facilities and new access roadways are expected to be completed by the end of this year, while the mixed-use, transit-oriented-development project is expected to be completed over several years.
Vienna-Fairfax/GMU station serves approximately 13,600 people on an average weekday.
