Dunn Loring: New parking garage open & bus bay relocation due to major construction

Updated: August 20, 2013

A new 1400-space parking garage at Dunn Loring Station will open for customers on Monday, August 26, at 5 a.m., replacing the station’s existing surface lot and marking an important milestone in a project that will ultimately result in a 50 percent increase in parking capacity.

With the opening of the new garage, the surface parking lot will become the site for the second phase of the garage, which will expand capacity by 700 spaces. The surface lot will permanently close at the end of the service day Sunday, August 25, to allow for construction.

METROBUS BOARDING LOCATION CHANGES
Metro has temporarily relocated the bus bays at Dunn Loring Station through late 2014, due to this major parking and development project.

  • Bus Bays A/B/C/D/E/F will be relocated to both sides of Gallows Road and the north side of Prosperity Avenue.
  • Metrobus routes 2T, 2C and Fairfax Connector 401, 462 and 463 will have its bus stop on Gallows Road.
  • Metrobus routes 1C, 1B and 2A will have its bus stop on Prosperity Avenue.

For safety reasons, bus customers are advised to use designated crosswalks and marked pedestrian walkways.

When the project is complete, the station will feature new bus bays and shelters, a continuous canopy to station entrance amd improved pedestrian and bicycle paths.

Phase II of the garage project is expected to be complete in late 2014. Once done, this large developement project will include an additional 700 spaces added to the new parking garage, residential housing and retail.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
