Metrorail ridership survey underway now through November

Through the end of November, Metrorail customers will be asked to complete ridership surveys that will help ensure future policy decisions reflect the needs of Metro customers.

Metro staff in yellow vests will be handing surveys out at various stations across the system, and they will be collected from drop boxes at stations through the end of November. Surveys can also be completed online via a web address or QR code on the printed surveys, which are unique to each individual survey. Metrorail customers are asked to take the survey each time they receive one.

The paper surveys are available in English and Spanish and include instructions for completing the questionnaire online in multiple languages, including Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Korean, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Online surveys are readable by an online reader for the visually impaired.

The periodic surveys fulfill the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) requirement to collect demographic information on Metrorail riders to ensure that Metro complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds. The data collected from the survey are used by Metro to inform fare policy, ensure equitable service, and more. The last Metrorail Passenger Survey was conducted in 2016.
