Metrobus will begin service on moderate snow plan tomorrow; Metrorail, MetroAccess to operate normally

On Thursday, December 17, Metrobus will begin service on a moderate snow service plan. Under a moderate snow service plan, service on some routes will be suspended and detours will be in effect on selected routes to avoid areas prone to hazardous conditions such as hilly terrain and narrow streets.  Click here to see how your travel may be affected.

Metro will continue to monitor road conditions and work to restore normal service as conditions safely allow.

Metrorail service is expected to operate on a regular weekday schedule. Metro personnel will work through the night to ensure travel is safe for customers in the morning, including the use of de-icer trains.

MetroAccess expects to provide normal service for its customers; however, some trips may experience delays due to road conditions throughout the region.

Metro customers should allow additional travel time and use caution on platforms, escalators, parking lots and other areas that may be slippery.

Modifications to service are possible at any time to ensure the safety of Metro customers and employees. Customers should sign up for MetroAlerts or check wmata.com before traveling for the most up to date service information.
