Metro Board seeks to fill open seats on Riders' Advisory Council

The Metro Board of Directors is seeking to fill open seats on the Riders' Advisory Council  (RAC), the 11-member panel that advises the Board on policy topics that may affect customers, such as fares, system hours, and frequency of rail and bus service.

Applicants are currently being sought to fill three "at-large" seats, plus two from the District of Columbia and one from Virginia. To be considered, RAC nominees should be regular Metro rider (during non-pandemic times), live within Metro's service area, and be members of the public who do not hold elected office, work for Metro or any of its contractors.

Applications are welcome from anyone who meets these basic qualifications and is willing to serve on behalf of their fellow riders. Board Members from each jurisdiction will assist in the selection process, with the goal of nominating members to represent a broad and diverse cross-section of Metro's customers, including bus riders, rail riders, and MetroAccess clients, as well as individuals who use Metro for various needs, including those who depend on public transit as their primary transportation, riders with disabilities, regular weekday commuters, and weekend travelers.

Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, and may be submitted online at Metro's website. Application forms are also available in accessible formats by calling tel:202-962-2511 (TTY tel:202-962-2033).

Metro's Board of Directors is expected to consider nominees for these open RAC seats on July 23.
