Metrobus to restore more routes through tonight, operate on a light snow plan tomorrow

Metrobus continues to restore additional service throughout the region and expects to operate on a light snow service plan tomorrow, Wednesday, January 5, barring any impacts from potential winter weather. Under a light snow plan, Metro will operate all 183 bus routes; however, some delays and detours are possible particularly in areas with hills, curves or narrow streets. Customers may check the light snow service plan for a detailed list of detours by route.

With dropping temperatures, road conditions in some areas remain hazardous due to black ice and a refreeze on street surfaces. Metrobus expects to operate on a severe snow service plan for the remainder of tonight consisting of 68 routes limited to major roadways. Additional bus service is also being restored on a route-by-route basis as roads become safe for bus operations.

MetroAccess service will operate normal service. Due to ice and slippery conditions on sidewalks and walkways, door-to-door service may not be possible and curb-to-curb service will be provided instead.

Metrorail will operate regularly scheduled service, with trains departing end of line stations every 12-24 minutes all day. Trains will provide better, more frequent service for customers at stations served by multiple lines.

Customers are advised to be aware of possible icing and slick conditions and should use caution when traveling to bus stops, in parking lots and at outdoor platforms.

Metro encourages customers to sign up for MetroAlerts text and email messages to receive the latest service information. Updates will also be provided through the Status and Alerts page and on Twitter @MetrorailInfo and @MetrobusInfo.
