Metro service winter storm update as of 11 a.m.

A strong winter storm with heavy accumulations continues to impact Metro service throughout the region. Metrobus service is temporarily suspended and MetroAccess service is temporarily paused with delays expected due to hazardous road conditions. Metrorail service is not impacted at this time; however, some minor delays may be possible to allow de-icer trains to pass through to keep rails clear of snow and ice.

As a result of the current conditions, MetroAccess customers are advised to expect significant delays. Roads throughout the region are in poor condition with low visibility and heavy snow accumulations. While MetroAccess trips are not canceled, service has been paused to allow roads to clear and for weather conditions to improve.

Metro continues to strongly encourage customers to travel only if absolutely necessary. Earlier today, Metrobus service was also temporarily suspended as road crews work to clear snow and treat roads. Metro continues to monitor conditions and will notify customers once it is safe to resume bus service.

Metrorail is operating normal service with trains departing end of line stations every 12-24 minutes. Trains will arrive more frequently at stations served by multiple lines. Customers should allow additional travel time and use caution on platforms, escalators, parking lots and other areas that may be slippery. Metro has crews deployed across the system to clear and treat parking lots, walkways and platforms.

Metro will provide updated service information through MetroAlerts text and email messages, on the Status and Alerts page, and on Twitter @MetrorailInfo and @MetrobusInfo.
