Metrobus service adjustments to restore additional service, improve reliability beginning Sunday, May 29

As Metrobus ridership continues to rebound, additional routes will resume pre-pandemic service levels, expand hours and adjust service to better meet schedule reliability beginning Sunday, May 29. The changes will add approximately 250 trips across the region to improve service in the District, Maryland and Virginia. 

In the District, X2 service to Lafayette Square will resume and several routes downtown will be extended to L’Enfant Plaza outside of Metrorail operating hours. In addition, K9 MetroExtra limited-stop service will be restored and Saturday hours of service on some routes in Prince George’s County will be extended. In Virginia, 22A service will be rerouted to the 395 Express Lanes during rush hours, while other routes will be rerouted to bypass the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. 

The changes will affect more than 70 routes in the District, Maryland and Virginia:
