Metro will stay open until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve

Metro will provide special late-night rail service on New Year's Eve for the benefit of holiday revelers ringing in 2019. Trains will continue running until 2 a.m. -- two and a half hours later than Metro's normal weeknight closing time.

Off-peak fares will be in effect during the extended service hours, and no track work is planned.

“We are pleased to provide special late-night service to give those celebrating New Year's Eve a safe way home,” said Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Wiedefeld.

Last train times vary by station. Customers can check last train times on New Year’s Eve by visiting a station’s webpage and adding two and a half hours to the normal last train time.

On New Year’s Day, Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. with trains operating on Sunday/holiday schedule.
