Metro Announces Partnership with Xfinity to Extend Late-Night Service for Monday’s Washington Capitals Game 4
Metrorail will remain open an additional hour for fans attending Game 4 of the Capitals v. Knights Stanley Cup Finals at Capital One Arena on Monday, June 4, thanks to Xfinity who is providing the $100,000 costs needed to extend the service hours of the 234-mile, 91 station Metrorail system.
“We are so excited that the Caps have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals and want our customers and local residents to be able to be there for the games,” said Mary McLaughlin, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Beltway Region. “We are proud to partner with Metro and Mayor Bowser to ensure our fellow Caps fans can use Metro to get home safely following the game – just one more way we’re working to fit into your life and not the other way around.”
“D.C. is ready for the Capitals to bring the Stanley Cup Finals home to the #SportsCapital. And thanks to Comcast, fans in and around the Capital One Arena will be able to take Metro home after the Caps win Game 4 on Monday night,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “We encourage everyone to avoid driving, use Metro and rock the red for all of the home games!”
"We are pleased to provide this extra hour of rail service so fans can support the Caps in the finals," said D.C. Councilmember and WMATA Board Chair Jack Evans. "Thanks to sponsors like Xfinity, we’re able to provide a ride home after the game, even if it goes into an overtime period."
Game 3 of the series will be played in D.C. on Saturday night when Metrorail is already open until 1 a.m. Trains will run on their regular schedule; however, Metro is clearing some previously scheduled track work to run trains more frequently. Fans can check last train times by visiting wmata.com/stations.
For Monday night’s Game 4, the Xfinity sponsorship allows trains to run a full hour beyond Metro’s regular 11:30 p.m. closing time. During the extra hour, fans can enter the system at Gallery Place, Metro Center (11th & G street entrance only), or Judiciary Square (F Street entrance only).
With the additional hour of service, the last trains from Gallery Place-Chinatown are now scheduled to depart at:
in the direction of Glenmont 12:38 a.m.; Shady Grove 12:32 a.m.
in the direction of Branch Ave 12:28 a.m.; Greenbelt 12:48 a.m.
in the direction of Huntington 12:19 a.m.
The last trains from Metro Center will depart at:
in the direction of Franconia-Springfield 12:28 a.m.; Largo Town Center 12:27 a.m.
in the direction of New Carrollton 12:20 a.m.; Vienna 12:36 a.m.
in the direction of Largo Town Center 12:27 a.m.; Wiehle-Reston East 12:21 a.m.
