Metro Transit Police arrest suspect for string of vehicle break-ins at Prince George’s County Metro stations

Metro Transit Police today announced the arrest of Victor Graham, 27, of Oxon Hill, on multiple counts of destruction of property, theft from auto, and fraud following a string of vehicle break-ins at the Branch Avenue, Largo Town Center and Cheverly Metrorail stations. 

Graham was observed on Metro cameras breaking into vehicles on Tuesday, September 4, at the Cheverly Metro Station. The next morning (yesterday), officers located Graham at Addison Road Station aboard a V12 Metrobus and took him into custody on suspicion of theft of services and fraud. In a post-arrest interview with MTPD detectives, Graham admitted that he broke into at least 17 vehicles at Branch Avenue, Cheverly and Largo Town Center stations seeking money and valuables to sell. The offenses occurred in late August and early September.

Graham provided detectives with the location of some of the items which were the items described as stolen in the reports, and MTPD is working to recover those items for victims.

Through September 1, Metro has had 29 reports of theft from auto this year across the Metrorail system, which has a daily parking capacity of 60,000 vehicles. The number is unchanged from the same period last year. Overall, Part I crime on Metro is down 17 percent this year versus last year, when crime plunged to its lowest level in more than a decade.
