In 2002, The JBG Companies entered into a joint development agreement with WMATA to develop 26 acres of land at the Twinbrook Metrorail Station (Red Line) in multiple phases.  In 2008, The JBG Companies and WMATA signed a ground lease for the first stage of development.

In 2010, construction of The Alaire, a 279-unit residential building with 16,500 square feet of retail was completed.  In 2015, construction of The Terano, a 214-unit residential building with 33,000 square feet of retail was completed.  JBG also built a 428 space parking garage to replace the surface parking lot.  Additional development is proposed.
