Open auditions for singers, dancers, musicians, and moreMetroPerforms!

Calling all local performing artists and entertainers! Metro's Art in Transit Program is inviting local performers of all genres - dancers, live artists, musicians, poets and more - to audition for the MetroPerforms! and Music on the Mall programs. In addition, members of the programs will have an opportunity to partake in the MetroPerforms! Showcase hosted by the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage this summer.

The MetroPerforms! Program, managed by Metro's Art in Transit program, offers local artists the chance to make Metro station entrances their stage. Selected artists will perform on a volunteer basis while sharing their talents with the million riders Metro services daily.

In addition to the chance to perform at Metro stations, artists may be selected to perform for Music on the Mall, a summer long program developed by Metro in cooperation with the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, the National Park Service, and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Music on the Mall brings live entertainment to the Nation's Capital with selected performers and live visual artists who perform on the lawn of the National Mall on Thursdays during the lunchtime hour of 12pm-1pm. Those selected to perform for this program will receive an honorarium.

Auditions will be held June 24, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Metro Headquarters, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC. Auditions will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. Program participants are to adhere to the performance guidelines, and pass a required security background check.

The MetroPerforms! and Music on the Mall programs will be held through to the end of August. "Both MetroPerforms! and Music on the Mall are wonderful examples of collaborations between programs dedicated to promoting the performing arts. They offer local artists opportunities to share their talent and provide area residents as well as the many visitors who travel to the region each day an enhanced experience." - Laurent Odde, Art in Transit Program Manager
