New Carrollton, Landover and Cheverly

  • Construction crews completed demolition of the aging platforms and tile and poured concrete to build the new platform edges.
  • As edge repairs continued at the platform level, crews began installing new slip-resistant tiles in the mezzanine (station entrance) areas and demolishing the canopy skylights and roofs above the platforms.
  • Up next: Crews will install 3,600 feet of granite edges, pour the topping slab and install slip-resistant tile on the platforms.

Deanwood, Minnesota Ave and Bridge Repairs

  • Mezzanine tile demolition is now complete at Deanwood and Minnesota Ave, and installation of the new slip-resistant tile is underway. Construction crews also poured concrete for the areas of safe dispersal at the platform level. Over the next two weeks, crews will install new light fixtures and run conduit for essential safety equipment.
  • Repairs continue to move forward at several bridges on this section of the Orange Line, including demolishing the decking at Cheverly, replacing the bearings near Landover and installing a stair tower for access to the bridge near New Carrollton.
