Management Responses WMSC Safety Audits

The Washington Metrorail Safety Commission (WMSC) conducts three-year audit cycles that separately evaluates each Metrorail functional area in accordance with 49 CFR § 674.31 and the WMSC Compact. Once an audit is complete, the WMSC transmits a draft audit report to Metro which articulates a summary of the audit findings and recommendations. Metro has a period of 30 days to review the report and comment on the technical accuracy of the report. Subsequently, the WMSC issues final audit reports that may be reviewed at Audits - Washington Metrorail Safety Commission (wmsc.gov).

Each submission of Metro's audit review comments listed below provides specific language for consideration in furthering the understanding of how to collectively improve Metro safety functions. Metro continues to be committed to transparency for improving rider safety.
