Metro Invites Riders to Comment on Proposed Metrobus J12 and K12 Changes
Metro's Office of Bus Planning in collaboration with Prince George's County is conducting a study designed to improve service on bus routes J12 and K12 which serve 3,300 riders in the Forestville area and provide access to key transfer points such as Addison Road, Branch Avenue, and Suitland Metrorail stations, and Penn Mar and Centre at Forestville shopping centers.
In November 2016, Metrobus J12 and K12 riders provided input on their rider experiences. Based on the feedback, along with additional analysis, Metro is proposing the following service changes.

Survey feedback is due by Monday, May 8.
Customers are also encouraged to provide feedback to project staff who will host a pop-up at Addison Road Metrorail station at Bus Bay A, Wednesday, April 19 during the morning rush hour. Staff will also be riding on Metrobus routes J12 and K12 at various times between Thursday, April 20 and Wednesday, May 3.
Proposed Metrobus J12 Service Changes
- Reroute buses to serve Capitol Heights Metrorail station instead of Addison Road Metrorail Station. Service along Central Avenue would be discontinued. Transfer to Metrobus F14 at Central Avenue and Chamber Avenue for service to Addison Rd Metrorail Station
- Reroute buses to serve Penn Mar Shopping Center and the Centre at Forestville along Donnell Drive for improved transfer opportunities to Metrobus K12, V12 and The Bus 20. Service along Marlboro Pike between Donnell Drive and Forestville Road would be discontinued
Proposed Metrobus K12 Service Changes
- Reroute buses to serve Penn Mar Shopping Center and the Centre at Forestville along Donnell Drive for improved transfer opportunities to Metrobus J12, V14 and The Bus 20. Service along Pennsylvania Avenue between Donnell Drive and Forestville Road would be discontinued. Transfer to Metrobus J12 for service along Pennsylvania Avenue.
