Metrobus Service Changes, June 6

Beginning Sunday, June 6, Metro will implement service adjustments to selected routes throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia that will restore additional service, expand late-night hours on selected routes and provide more buses, more often on some of the busiest routes. As part of Metro’s recovery plan and as Covid-19 restrictions continue to be lifted throughout the region, changes will increase service to 85 percent of pre-pandemic levels. 

Service Restoration and Expanded Late-Night Service 

Weekday service will be restored on routes 18J, 26A, 28F and 60. Saturday and Sunday service will be restored on Route 62. 

Late-night service on 37 routes throughout D.C., Maryland and Virginia will be extended to operate until 2 a.m. on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Fairfax Connector Service Will Replace Five Metrobus Routes 
(Effective: July 10, 2021) 

Routes 3A, 3T, 15K, 29C and 29W will be replaced by Fairfax Connector routes on July 10, 2021. For more information about the Fairfax Connector service, see the route information below or visit FairfaxConnector.com

Platform Improvement Project Service Changes
(Effective: April 19, 2021)

Changes to routes 86, F4, F6, F8 and R4 at Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail Station are in place until Fall 2021 to accommodate construction activity related to the Platform Improvement Project. Upon completion of the construction in Fall 2021 these routes will resume normal operation. Changes to Routing, Bus Stop Locations and Service Times

Service changes impacting routing, bus stop locations and service times will also go into effect on selected Metrobus routes. See the details on these changes in the section below.

As a reminder, Covid-19 safety precautions are still in effect, and under Federal law, masks are required on public transit.

30N, 30S Friendship Heights-Southeast
  • Weekday trip times will be updated to improve on-time performance. 
  • On weeknights, the Route 30N trip leaving Naylor Road Metrorail Station at 11:38 p.m. and the Route 30S trip leaving Friendship Heights Metrorail Station at 11:50 p.m. will be eliminated. 
32, 36 Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Weekday trip times will be adjusted to improve on-time performance. 
  • Hours of operation for routes 32 and 36 will be extended to 2 a.m. 
33 Wisconsin Avenue
  • Hours of operation for Route 33 will be extended to 2 a.m. 
52 14th Street 
  • Hours of operation for Route 52 will be extended to 2 a.m. 
60, 64 Fort Totten-Petworth
  • Weekday Route 60 service will be restored to pre-pandemic service levels.
  • Routes 60 and 64 will be split into two separate lines with Route 64 renamed the Fort Totten-Federal Triangle Line and Route 60 remaining the Fort-Totten Petworth Line.
  • Trip times for routes 60 and 64 will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.
  • Routes 60 and 64 will have separate timetables. 
62 Takoma-Petworth 
  • Saturday and Sunday service will be restored. 
  • Service operates as Route 62 between Takoma and Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail stations every 48 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • There will be no Route 63 service on Saturdays or Sundays. 
70 Georgia Ave-7th Street 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
80 North Capitol Street 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
  • Late-night trips between midnight and 2 a.m. will operate between Fort Totten Metrorail Station and McPherson Square only. 
92 U Street-Garfield
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
96 East Capitol Street-Cardozo
  • Weekday trip times will be updated to improve on-time performance. 
A2, A6, A7, A8 Anacostia-Congress Heights 
  • Route A2 will be separated from routes A6, A7 and A8 and renamed the Anacostia-Washington Highlands Line.
  • Routes A6, A7 and A8 will be renamed the Anacostia-Livingston Line.
  • Hours of operation for routes A6 and A8 will be extended to 2 a.m. 
  • Trip times for Route A2 will be published on separate timetables from routes A6, A7 and A8. 
A4, W5 Anacostia-Fort Drum 
  • Route W5 will be separated from Route A4 and renamed the Anacostia-Blue Plains Line.
  • Trip times for routes A4 and W5 will be shown on separate timetables. 
G8 Rhode Island Avenue 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m.
  • Late-night trips between approximately 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. will operate between Farragut Square and Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail Station only. 
H4 Crosstown
Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 

L2 Connecticut Avenue 
Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. between Farragut Square and Chevy Chase Circle. 

M4 Nebraska Avenue
  • Route M4 will be extended beyond Pinehurst Circle to serve Western Avenue, Oregon Avenue and Chestnut Street NW. The northbound destination sign will be changed to “Western Ave & Oregon Ave”. Route M4 will begin serving the Knollwood Community once construction on Oregon Avenue is complete in late 2021. 
P6 Anacostia-Eckington
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m.
  • Late-night trips between midnight and 2 a.m. will operate between Anacostia and Archives Metrorail stations only. 
S2 16th Street
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
U5 Marshall Heights 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
V2, V4 Minnesota Avenue-Capitol Heights
  • Hours of operation for Route V2 will be extended to 2 a.m.
  • Hours of operation for Route V4 will be shortened to end at 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
  • The stop for Route V4 at Navy Yard-Ballpark Metrorail Station will be moved to New Jersey Avenue & M Street, SE in front of the east station entrance. 
W2, W3 United Medical Center-Anacostia
  • Hours of operation for Route W2 will be extended to 2 a.m.
  • Late-night trips between midnight and 2 a.m. will operate between the Anacostia Metrorail Station and Naylor & Good Hope roads only.
  • Saturday service on Route W3 will be restored to pre-pandemic service levels. 
X2 Benning Road-H Street 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
Maryland
A12 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
C4 Greenbelt-Twinbrook
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
C26, C29 Central Avenue
  • Weekday trips on Route C26 will be extended to Bowie Park & Ride via Pointer Ridge, Bowie Health Center and Bowie Gateway Center. This provides alternate service for some B29 and C28 customers.
  • Saturday Route C29 trips resume pre-pandemic service to Bowie State University. 
D12, D13, D14 Oxon Hill-Suitland
  • Hours of operation for Route D12 will be extended to 2 a.m.
  • Routes D13 and D14 will return to regular routing on Indian Highway (MD 210) following the completion of the interchange at Indian Head Highway, Livingston Road and Kerby Hill Road. 
F4 New Carrollton-Silver Spring
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
G12, G14 Greenbelt-New Carrollton
  • Routes G12 and G14 will be split into two separate lines. Trip times and routing remain the same.
  • Route G12 will be remain the Greenbelt-New Carrollton Line.
  • Route G14 will be renamed the Greenbelt Rd-Good Luck Rd Line. 
J2 Bethesda-Silver Spring
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
K6 New Hampshire Ave-Maryland
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
P12 Eastover-Addison
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
T18 Annapolis Road
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
Y2 Georgia Ave-Maryland
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
Z8 Fairland
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m.

1A Wilson Boulevard-Vienna
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
3A Annandale Road (CHANGES EFFECTIVE JULY 10, 2021)
  • Route 3A will be replaced by Fairfax Connector Route 803.
  • Weekday service will operate between Annandale and the East Falls Church Metrorail Station.
  • Saturday and Sunday service will operate between Annandale, the East Falls Church Metrorail Station and the Seven Corners Transit Center. 
3T Pimmit Hills (CHANGES EFFECTIVE JULY 10, 2021)
  • Route 3T will be replaced by Fairfax Connector Route 703.
  • Service will operate between the McLean and West Falls Church Metrorail stations on weekdays and Saturdays. 
7A Lincolnia-North Fairlington
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
  • Late-night trips after midnight will operate between the Pentagon and Southern Towers only.
10A Alexandria-Pentagon
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m.
11C Mount Vernon (NEW ROUTE)
  • The new route will operate between Mount Vernon and the Braddock Road Metrorail Station during morning and evening rush hours and partially replace Route 11Y.
  • Morning trips will operate northbound from Mount Vernon to the Braddock Road Metrorail Station and afternoon trips will operate from the Braddock Road Metrorail Station to Mount Vernon.
  • Route 11C will serve all bus stops between the Braddock Road Metrorail Station and Mount Vernon.
  • Local fare will be required for this route. 
15K Chain Bridge Road (CHANGES EFFECTIVE JULY 10, 2021)
  • Route 15K will be replaced by Fairfax Connector Route 715.
  • Service will operate between the East Falls Church Metrorail Station and McLean.
  • Early-morning service from the Rosslyn Metrorail Station to Langley will be eliminated. 
16E Columbia Pike 
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
17H, 17K Kings Park Express
  • Routes 17H and 17K will be combined and renamed Route 17K. Route 17H designation will be eliminated.
  • Morning Route 17K trips will start on Twinbrook Road & Twinbrook Run Drive and operate along Guinea Road, Zion Drive, Sideburn Road, Commonwealth Boulevard, Pommeroy Road, Guinea Road service road, Burke Road, Lake Braddock Road, Burke Lake Road, Braddock Road and continue to the Pentagon along I-495 and I-395 HOT Lanes.
  • Afternoon trips follow the morning route through Kings Park West and operate clockwise from Guinea & Burke roads before continuing to Twinbrook Road & Heathwood Court.
  • Service along Commonwealth Boulevard between Pommeroy Road and Guinea Road and along Gainsborough Drive will be eliminated. 
18J Orange Hunt
  • Weekday service between the Pentagon, Shirley Industrial Park, Old Keene Mill Road and Rolling Valley Park & Ride will be restored. 
21C Landmark-Holmes Run Parkway (NEW ROUTE)
  • The new route will operate between Landmark, Holmes Run Parkway, North Van Dorn Street and the Pentagon and partially replaces routes 8Z and 21A.
  • Route 21C will operate between the Pentagon and Landmark along Stevenson Avenue, Yoakum Parkway, Edsall Road, South Reynolds Street, Duke Street, North Pickett Street, Holmes Run Parkway, North Van Dorn Street, Kenmore Avenue and the Pentagon along the I-395 HOT Lanes.
  • Morning trips will operate northbound starting on Stevenson Avenue & North Van Dorn Street opposite the Van Dorn Plaza and afternoon trips will operate southbound ending on Stevenson Avenue at the Van Dorn Plaza. 
22F Barcroft-South Fairlington
  • Service will be extended to Skyline City and will partially replace routes 28F and 28G.
  • Morning trips will start on South George Mason Drive at #3713 (Skyline House Apartments) and serve Skyline Plaza Apartments, Leesburg Pike, Carlin Springs Road, Seminary Road and Fillmore Avenue before continuing the existing Route 22F routing.
  • Afternoon trips will operate between the Pentagon and Fillmore Avenue on the existing Route 22F routing and continue to Skyline City along Seminary Road, Carlin Springs Road, Leesburg Pike, Skyline Plaza Apartments and end on South George Mason Drive opposite #3713 (Skyline House Apartments). 
23A, 23B, 23T McLean-Crystal City 
  • Weekday service on routes 23B and 23T will be restored. 
  • Hours of operation for Route 23B will be extended to 2 a.m. 
26A Annandale-East Falls Church
  • Weekday service between the East Falls Church Metrorail Station, Seven Corners Transit Center, Culmore, Annandale and NVCC-Annandale will be restored. 
28A Leesburg Pike
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m. 
28F Skyline City
  • Weekday service between Skyline City (South George Mason Drive & #3713) and the Pentagon will be restored. 
29C Annandale (CHANGES EFFECTIVE JULY 10, 2021)
  • Route 29C will be replaced by Fairfax Connector Route 834.
  • Morning service will operate westbound from the Pentagon to NVCC-Annandale and afternoon service will operate eastbound from NVCC-Annandale to the Pentagon. 
29W Braeburn Drive-Pentagon Express (CHANGES EFFECTIVE JULY 10, 2021) 
  • Route 29W will be replaced by Fairfax Connector Route 835.
  • Morning service will operate eastbound from Wakefield Forest to the Pentagon and afternoon service will operate westbound from the Pentagon to Wakefield Forest. 
38B Ballston-Farragut Square
  • Hours of operation will be extended to 2 a.m.
