Capitol Heights Park and Ride and Kiss and Ride Repair Project

Advisory Effective: 11/23/21 - 6/1/22

Beginning on or about December 1, 2021 for approximately 6 months, Metro is rehabilitating the Park & Ride lot, Kiss & Ride lot and bus loop at Capitol Heights Station.


Customer Information

  • Park & Ride repair work will be done in phases. Approximately 300 parking spaces, or around 50% of the lot, will be closed at a time.
  • Beware of sidewalk/concrete repairs throughout construction.
  • All dates are tentative and subject to change.
  • At all individual parking spaces, customers will receive advanced notice of the parking space closure. Accessible and reserved parking spaces will be temporarily relocated throughout construction. Adhere to posted signage at the individual parking space.
  • Bus loop concrete repairs will occur, and bus stop relocations will be in effect.
Parking Alternatives

  • Consider parking at Addison Road-Seat Pleasant. Visit wmata.com/parking for more information about parking availability.
Project Schedule

Phase 1: Kiss & Ride and Bus Loop Repairs – In Progress

  • Duration: Approximately 2 months.
  • Bus loop concrete repairs will occur, and bus stop relocations will be in effect.
  • No overnight parking in the Kiss & Ride permitted.
Phase 2: Park & Ride Repairs (North Section) – Upcoming, Winter 2022

  • Duration: Approximately 2 months.
  • About 300 parking spaces, or around 50% of the lot, will be closed at a time.
  • Some work will occur at night.
Phase 3: Park & Ride Entrance (Davey St) Repairs – Upcoming, Spring 2022

  • Duration: Approximately 2 months.
  • Temporary traffic detours will be in place. No vehicular entry/exit permitted after Metrorail hours during construction.
  • All work will occur at night.
Customer Safety

  • Be prepared for loud noises and traffic/pedestrian detours throughout construction. For your safety, stay clear of the construction zone and follow all posted signs.
  • Vehicles parked in marked construction zones will be subject to towing. If your vehicle is towed, please call Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121.
