Florida Ave Protected Bicycle Lanes, July 15-Sept 30

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) began changes on Florida Ave NE between 2nd St and 8th St. The project provides protected bicycle lanes, reducing motorist travel lanes. The DC Council mandated project lessens vehicular speeds and improves pedestrian and bicycle safety.
Four, eastbound right lanes will become protected bicycle lanes. At each bus stop location, the bike lane ramps up to curb height, allowing ADA customers to board. Bike lanes are marked as crosswalks with signs, instructing bikes to yield to pedestrians.
DDOT is repaving eastbound right lanes and will rebuild new bus stops. Stops listed below will be closed. New lanes are not open to bike traffic until the project is completed by September 30.
