Shady Grove customers will benefit from construction of a new stairway. The work, beginning in early January, is expected to take six months and will provide a new way for customers to exit the platform as trains arrive at Shady Grove.

The new stairway will ease crowding on the platform and save riders time, particularly during the evening rush hour. Today, riders arriving at Shady Grove must use a single descending escalator and an existing stairway that often back up as customers exit.

During construction, access to the station will be unaffected; however, customers are advised to follow all construction notices and signs. The new stairs will connect the platform to the mezzanine area across from the station kiosk.

The project is funded through the FY2020 capital program, made possible with the commitment of dedicated funding.
