Metrorail weekend service adjustments for Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16

Summary of  weekend service adjustments for Saturday, May 15 through Sunday, May 16:

During the weekend of Saturday, May 15 through Sunday, May 16, Metrorail will operate from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Trains will serve 89 of 91 stations with scheduled service adjustments on the Yellow and Green lines. On Sunday only, two additional stations will be closed from opening until 2 p.m. for an emergency response exercise. 

Due to the Platform Improvement Project, customers are advised there will be no Blue Line service through May 23. Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq.

Highlights: 

Red Line Trains every 12-15 minutes.

Blue Line No train service. Arlington Cemetery Station closed. Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq.

Orange Line Trains every 15-20 minutes.

Silver Line Trains every 15-20 minutes. Addison Rd Station closed. 

Yellow Line Trains every 24 minutes operating in two segments: between Huntington and Greenbelt; and between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq.

Green Line Trains every 15-20 minutes with service on Sunday operating between Greenbelt and Naylor Rd only from opening until 2 p.m. 

Under federal law and for your safety and the safety of others, customers are required to wear face masks while traveling on Metro. 


Red Line Red Line

  • Trains operate every 12-15 minutes.

Blue Line Blue Line

  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • No Blue Line service. Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St. stations will be served by additional Yellow Line service operating between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq.
    • Arlington Cemetery Station closed. Free shuttles provided between Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon.

Orange Line Orange Line 

  • Trains operate every 15-20 minutes.

Silver Line Silver Line

  • Trains operate every 15-20 minutes.  
  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • Addison Rd station closed. Trains will pass through the station without stopping. Free shuttle buses provided between Capitol Heights and Addison Rd.

Yellow Line Yellow Line

  • Trains every 24 minutes. 
  • Due to construction for the Potomac Yard Metro Station:
    • Single tracking between Braddock Rd and National Airport. 

Green Line Green Line

  • Trains every 15-20 minutes.
  • Sunday until 2 p.m., due to an emergency response exercise:
    • Free shuttle buses replace trains between Naylor Rd and Branch Ave.
    • Suitland and Branch Ave stations closed.
    • Stations will reopen no later than 2 p.m. Customers will be notified via MetroAlerts text and email messages, on social media @Metrorailinfo and on wmata.com when stations reopen.
