Media Advisory: Metro hosting Flip the Switch Event for Anacostia Station Solar Carport

On Monday, Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m., Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Randy Clarke alongside Councilmember Trayon White, Sr. and representatives from MN8 Energy and TotalEnergies will "flip the switch" on a new solar carport at the Anacostia parking garage, a huge step towards transitioning the District to 100 percent renewable energy by 2032.

The 1.46 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) panel carports at Anacostia are part of Metro’s Solar Carport Project. The Anacostia Station along with 3 MW of solar at Southern Ave are the first of four carport projects to be installed at Metro facilities in DC and Maryland. This innovative and community-oriented project is a collaboration between Metro, TotalEnergies, and MN8 Energy that collectively form one of the largest community solar projects in the Mid-Atlantic and in the nation.
