Metro reminds customers of weekend track work affecting all Metrorail lines

Metro is reminding customers to plan ahead if traveling on Metrorail this weekend due to track work affecting all lines. 

On the Blue and Orange lines, aerial structure repairs near Stadium Armory will continue. Buses will replace trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Ave/Benning Road. Silver Line service will run between Ashburn and Federal Center SW only. Customers can transfer to the Blue and Orange lines to continue their trip. On the Red, Yellow, and Green lines, Metro will perform fastener and rail renewal and joint elimination, making for a smoother ride. Red Line trains will single track between Medical Center and Grosvenor, running every 10 minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont and every 20 minutes between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove. Green and Yellow line trains will single track between Mt. Vernon Square and L’Enfant Plaza, running every 20 minutes on both lines. 

SERVICE:

  • Orange Line: Free shuttle buses replace trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue. Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Amory closed. Trains run every 12 mins (daytime) and 15 mins (evening) from Vienna to Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue to New Carrollton. 
  • Blue Line: Free shuttle buses replace trains between Eastern Market and Benning Road. Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory closed. Trains run every 12 mins (daytime) and 15 mins (evening) from Franconia-Springfield to Eastern Market and Benning Road to Downtown Largo. 
  • Silver Line: Modified service operating from Ashburn to Federal Center only. Trains run every 12 minutes (daytime) and 15 minutes (evening). 
  • Red Line: Single tracking between Medical Center and Grosvenor. Trains run every 10 minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont and every 20 minutes between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove. 
  • Yellow/Green lines: Single tracking between Mt. Vernon Square and L'Enfant Plaza. Trains run every 20 minutes.
