Investigation Continues on Metrobus Accident

Investigators are working to find out why a woman stepped in front of a Metrobus last night, resulting in her being fatally injured.

Metrobus 4261, a route H8 to Mount Pleasant Road, was traveling northbound on 16th Street, N.W. and was making a left turn onto northbound Park Road, N.W. when it struck a woman at 10:25 p.m. yesterday (January 16).

There were five passengers on the Metrobus at the time of the incident. Nobody on board was injured.

The bus operator has been with Metro since October 2005. He was placed on routine leave pending a standard drug and alcohol analysis.

The woman who was struck by the bus has not been identified at this time. The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the District of Columbia Police Department.
