Suspicious packages at Braddock Road delay station opening

The Braddock Road Metrorail station opened at 7:25 a.m. instead of 5 a.m. today because of three suspicious packages found near the station entrance.

As the Metro Transit Police and Alexandria Police Department investigated, Metrorail trains passed through, but did not stop at the Braddock Road station, and customers were not allowed into the station. Free shuttle bus service between the Braddock Road and King Street Metrorail stations helped move customers around the incident.

After Metro Transit Police explosive technicians disrupted the three items near the station and deemed the area safe, the station was able to open and normal Metrorail service resumed.
