Call Metro customer service for information on Metro emergencies

Metro’s customer information telephone line (202-637-7000) now provides customers with timely information about emergencies in the Metro system that significantly affect Metrorail or Metrobus service.

As soon as callers are connected, they are prompted to press one for English or two for Spanish. Once they select the language, any emergency information will be relayed before the prompts for general Metro information.

The new call center feature was launched earlier today when the Braddock Road Metrorail stationed opened late because of three suspicious packages found outside the station early this morning. It also was used later in the morning when a track fire closed the Farragut North Metrorail station.

“Giving Metro riders immediate access to details about emergency situations or system delays by telephone is another way that Metro is making information more accessible to its customers to help them better plan their trip,” said Ray Feldmann, acting assistant general manager for communications.

The Web site, www.MetroOpensDoors.com also provides real-time information about Metro service disruptions, bus detours or other emergency information. Riders can also sign up for , a custom e-mail service notifying subscribers of specific service disruptions.
