Woman Leans Over Platform Edge, Struck by Train

A woman leaned over the edge of the platform this morning was struck by a Blue Line train pulling into the Rosslyn Metrorail.

Shortly after 7 a.m., a woman waiting for a Blue Line train to Franconia-Springfield began to feel faint as the train entered the station. The woman leaned forward over the granite edge of the platform and made contact with the six-car Blue Line train as it pulled into the station.

Medical assistance was provided to the woman and she was transported to George Washington University Hospital at 7:45 a.m., with minor injuries.

Customers traveling on the Blue and Orange lines experienced major delays throughout the remainder of the morning rush hour due to the incident.
