Metrobus Service Changes Proposed in Arlington and Fairfax Counties

Metro intends to hold a public hearing about the restructuring of Metrobus routes 25A, F, G, J, P, R, the Ballston-Braddlee-Pentagon Line, and the 7A, B, C, D, E, F, H, P, W, X, the Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line, pending approval by the Metro Board of Directors on February 15. The proposed restructuring plan will maintain service to existing customers and to improve service reliability.

The proposed plan restructures the lines to simplify and rationalize route structure, eliminate unproductive segments and match the demand with the appropriate level of service. The plan will add service on the 25 Line in Arlington and Fairfax counties. Metro coordinated the proposed changes with the City of Alexandria and Arlington and Fairfax counties.

The details of the plan are as follows:
• The 25A, F, G, J, P, R Ballston-Bradlee-Pentagon Line would be restructured as follows:
• Eliminate routes 25F, G, J, P, R affecting 68 passengers (alternate service is available).
• Operate route 25A from Ballston to Pentagon via the Northern Virginia Community College (seven days a week).
• Operate route 25C from Park Center to Pentagon (extended peak periods).
• Operate route 25D from Pentagon to Park Center via I-395 and Shirlington (extended peak periods).
• The line would be reduced from six routes to three.

• Additional service is proposed for the following:
• Service to the Skyline Plaza on Saturdays,
• Service to Stonegate and South Fairlington on weekdays,
• Service to Shirlington during peak hours,
• Service from Northern Virginia Community College to Ballston-MU on Saturdays, and
• Service on Route 22B on Saturdays.

• The 7 Line would be restructured, which could affect up to 300 customers. However alternative service is available:
• Routes 7B, 7D, and 7P serving Park Center and Stonegate would be eliminated and replaced by routes 25A, 25C and 25D.
• The terminal stop for Route 7C would be relocated from Park Center to Bradlee.
• The 7 Line would be reduced from 10 routes to seven.
