Riders can subscribe to MetroAccess eAlert notifications

MetroAccess users can now subscribe to a web-based service that will alert them of major service disruptions due to inclement weather and other emergency situations. Subscribers to the MetroAccess eAlerts service can receive e-mail messages from Metro on desktop computers, cellular phones, pagers or personal digital assistants equipped with e-mail capabilities.

“Electronic notifications will help us communicate better with our riders and improve the quality of their MetroAccess experiences,” said Steven Yaffe, Metro’s Community Transportation Services Chief Operating Officer.

People who want to subscribe can visit Metro’s MetroAccess page at http://www.wmata.com/MetroAccess to register for the new service. The e-mail address of subscribers will only be used for these alerts in keeping with Metro’s privacy policy.

Users will be given the option to unsubscribe with each e-mail they receive.
