Metrobus operator dismissed

Victor Kolako, the operator involved in the fatal Metrobus accident in Northwest Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 14, has been terminated from his position as bus operator, as of today.

Kolako, who was placed on administrative leave following the accident, had been a Metrobus operator since 2000.

On Feb. 14, Kolako was driving Metrobus 2124 on the 54 route to Takoma. At 6:39 p.m. as the bus turned left onto Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from Seventh Street, NW, it fatally struck two women.

Kolako appeared in DC Superior Court last week and is facing charges of negligent homicide. His trial is scheduled to begin on June 8.
