Metro to Display Train Arrival Times at Mezzanines and Elevator Outages on Platforms

Metrorail customers will now be able to get train arrival information at the mezzanine level and elevator outage information at the platform level of rail stations. Beginning Monday, April 23, the information will be displayed on the electronic signs or Passenger Information Displays (PIDs).

Both platform and mezzanine PIDs will now include information about train arrivals, elevator outages and system delays.

“Once again, we listened to our customers. They told us they wanted to see train arrival information prior to entering the fare gates,” said Metro General Manager John Catoe. “Now, our customers will be able to make decisions about their trips before the enter they stations and get to know about train arrival and delay information,” he said.

The elevator outage information will be displayed every two minutes. The elevator outage messages have been re-formatted so they take less time to display so that both, those messages and the train arrival messages, are useful and convenient to customers.

Metro consulted this effort with the Riders Advisory Council (RAC) and the Elderly and Disabled Committee. All the parties agreed that providing the information will be beneficial to all our customers.
