Metro's annual rail rodeo rounding up on May 5

Metro’s 2007 Rail Rodeo, an event highlighting rail operator and maintenance worker skills, will take place Saturday, May 5. The Rail Rodeo will be held at 10 a.m. at the Branch Avenue Rail Yard, 5700 Capital Gateway Drive, Suitland, MD.

Metrorail station managers, operators and rail car maintenance teams will showcase their skills in the annual Rodeo competition. The teams will compete in a series of events scored on professional appearance and the ability to safely and quickly complete an obstacle course or troubleshoot maintenance problems. The first and second place train operators and first place maintenance team will travel to Toronto to represent Metro at the International Rail Rodeo competition at the end of May.

The Rodeo will also feature a variety of family fun activities, such as Metro’s annual custom car show, where employees show off their hottest and fastest cars, dancing and stepping performances, domino and table tennis tournaments, karaoke, clowns and an art contest for children.
