Shiva Pant Appointed Metro Chief of Staff

Metro General Manager John Catoe continues to reshape his team of top advisors and has appointed Shiva Pant as the new Chief of Staff

Pant, 61, has 37 years of technical, administrative and senior management experience. As Chief of Staff of Metro, Pant will coordinate and assist in major policy and project issues, serve as representative and liaison on behalf of the General Manager, and will be responsible for quality assurance on major and critical studies. Pant replaces Sara Procacci Wilson, who has been appointed Assistant General Manager for Corporate Strategy and Communications.

Pant joined Metro in January 1999 as the Virginia Government Relations Officer and has worked on several key initiatives, including funding for Metro, parking facilities and Metrorail cars, and coordinating other legislative issues with the Virginia legislature and jurisdictions. Pant also serves as the General Manager’s liaison and policy manager for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project.

Before coming to Metro, Pant served as the Director of the Fairfax County Department of Transportation for 26 years. During his tenure with Fairfax County, he was involved with various aspects of Metrorail planning in Virginia, and undertook a variety of transportation initiatives including the start-up of the Fairfax Connector bus system.

Pant has a bachelors and masters degree in civil engineering and his a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
