Metro appoints Selene Faer Dalton-Kumins as Director of MetroAccess

Selene Faer Dalton-Kumins, a manager in the Office of MetroAccess Service, has been appointed the new Director of MetroAccess. She most recently served as a manager of Metro’s paratransit eligibility certification process and has more than 20 years experience working in disability awareness and advocacy.

Dalton-Kumins is a board member at the ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia and a commissioner for the Arlington Disability Advisory Commission and the Arlington Human Rights Commission.

Dalton-Kumins’ involvement with and interest in accessible transportation began in college where she encountered physical and policy barriers to her use of fixed-route and paratransit services. In her private advocacy and mentoring efforts, Dalton-Kumins has worked with a variety of public and private organizations to attain equal access to medical services, education, transportation, recreation and opportunity for people with disabilities.

“I am pleased to be part of a team that is already making operational improvements to MetroAccess. Ensuring that our policy and operational decisions are made with a focus on the independence of our customers is central to my work and I will make it a priority to include our customers in the process,” said Dalton-Kumins.

Dalton-Kumins earned a law degree from Emory University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in drama from Duke University.
