Metro Board, Riders' Advisory Council to Host Town Hall Meetings about Pedestrian Safety

Metro and the Riders’ Advisory Council will host two town hall meetings about pedestrian safety on May 31 and June 12.

The town hall meetings will give riders the opportunity to hear from Metro Board members and Metro officials, find out about Metro’s new safety initiatives, and learn how they can be safer pedestrians.

The Thursday, May 31 Town Hall Meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Columbia Heights Community Center, 1480 Girard Street, in NW. Metro Board Second Vice Chairman Jim Graham and Riders’ Advisory Council member Armando Cortinez will moderate the meeting.

The Columbia Heights Community Center is three blocks south and one block east of the Columbia Heights Metrorail station on the Green and Yellow lines.

A second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Petey Greene Community Services Center, 2907 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, in Southeast, DC. Metro Board Member Marion Barry and Riders Advisory Council member Sharon Conn will moderate. Individuals attending the Town Hall Meeting at the Petey Greene Community Center can take Metro’s Green Line to the Anacostia station and transfer to Metrobus A2, A4, A6, A7, or A8 toward Congress Heights.

Metro riders are invited to participate in online chats, comment during Board meetings held the third Thursday of every month, attend Riders’ Advisory Council meetings or email Board members to share opinions and get questions answered about Metro.
