Online Trip Planner sends travel itineraries by email

The popular online Trip Planner, which plots a rider’s travel itinerary from start to finish, has added a new feature to make travel by Metro easier. The Trip Planner can now send travel itineraries by email to computers or Web-enabled devices. Instead of jotting down the directions for travel, users can choose to send themselves an email containing the travel information.

The Trip Planner generates detailed itineraries after an individual inputs a starting and ending point. It lets users know which bus or train to take, arrival times, fares, and walking directions to and from Metrorail stations or bus stops.

Metro’s online Trip Planner is one of the most popular features on www.MetroOpensDoors.com, generating nearly 50,000 travel itineraries each day.

Itineraries sent to wireless devices may get truncated or sent in multiple emails depending on length, phone and other conditions determined by your provider. Depending on your Internet service provider or pager/cellular carrier, users may be charged a per-message fee. This is not a Metro fee.
