Metrorail records ninth highest weekday ridership in its 31-year history
789,247 riders used Metrorail on Wednesday, June 13
Hundreds of thousands of people yesterday helped Metro set the transit agency’s ninth highest ridership day in the history of the 31-year-old rail system. Riders took 789,247 trips, which was 2,404 more trips than the same day last year. There was no special event yesterday, though continued high gas prices and the influx of visitors to the region contributed to yesterday’s high numbers. Combined with Metrobus ridership, Metro provided 1.2 million trips yesterday. Typical weekday bus ridership has been about 424,000 trips.
