Proposed Relocation of Bus Facilities and the New Police Training Facilities in DC Village Topics of July 10 Public Hearing

Metro is hosting a public hearing on the proposed relocation of bus facilities and the new police training facilities in DC Village at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at St. Elizabeths Hospital Chapel, 2701 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, Washington, DC.

An Open House will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the public hearing at 6:30 p.m.

Metro officials will present the public with information on the proposed relocation which will involve the construction of a modern bus maintenance and storage facility with a capacity of 250 Metrobuses. The replacement is considered necessary in order to provide a modern facility with adequate capacity for the near and long term; to support the redevelopment of the Anacostia waterfront, and to avoid the impact of the new baseball stadium events upon Metrobus access at the Southeastern Bus Garage. The project will also include a Metro police training facility.

Individuals who want to be heard at the public hearing should submit in writing their name, address, telephone number and organization affiliation, if any, to Office of the Secretary, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001; fax to 202-962-1133 or e-mail to “public-hearing-testimony@wmata.com.”
